Road Trip #2 Mission Complete

10th April, 2009 - Anton

Well the party van has returned to Brisbane after a super adventure to the central coast of New South Wales. We hit the Conehead Cup Round 1 and watched ten thousand awesome dudes skating down a ditch and dominating cones. The competition was fierce, and the spectactors were on the edge of their arses, watching in awe as these dudes pumped cones really hard. We met a guy called Swiss Cheese and he was trying to convince us his name was Ramon Konigshausen, but we didn't believe him. The funny shit was, Swiss Cheese was a ridiculously good skater and just a totally awesome guy, so we took him with us to skate and make movies.

On our way home we visited the legendary waterfall way, near the town of Dorrigo. We found what has been by far the best skating experience of our travels so far. The entire area had been declared a natural disaster zone the week before due to flash flooding, and we arrived on the first sunny day they'd had in two weeks. The road that was covered in silt had JUST been cleaned the night before, and there were waterfalls pouring down the rocks right next to us. A long, windy road, and a beautiful place. It was unreal.

Dorrigo

Now we're all looking forward to the outlaw and the MONSTER carpark sesh this weekend!

$100 Skating Fine!!

March 25th, 2009 - Anton

Some people choose to accept that the laws against skating are 'just there'. I'd like to say that this kind of thinking is the reason our country is piling up with more and more laws that we all have to deal with. No we should NEVER have to run from ANYBODY for skating on any public property. NOBODY should be telling us that moving around on a board with wheels is a crime. Should all of us just accept that our sport, our hobby, and for some of us our careers, is almost always illegal in our country? Does anyone reading this know anyone who thinks getting a $100 fine for skating is reasonable? When someone comes and shines a torch at you and tells you to stop skating do you always bail and disregard your own personal freedoms, or would you rather stop and ask 'Why? What is the actual law in this case and where is it written?','Why can I walk here but not roll?'. That's what I did and look where it got me. By simply staying and asking for an explanation of the laws I was persecuted.

Infringment

Breakin the Law!

They are laws that were put there by people who don't truly understand, and they can just as easily be lifted. The Brisbane city council has launched huge initiatives recently to encourage alternative forms of transport. The 3 newest bridges over our river are for bikes and pedestrians only. Because of longboards, skating is not about doing tricks that damage public property any more. That's what I love about longboards, because for me it's my mode of transport as much as anything else. It's an environmentally friendly, healthy, and fun way to get around. I also always wear a helmet on the roads which makes it just as safe as any bike or scooter. I'd really like us all to get the message across to the public eye that skateboarding is a positive and beneficial activity. We all want to stop the negative reaction and attitude from the government, police and security guards, who have the preconception that skateboarding is harmful, dangerous, and stupid. If the longboard skating community is going to grow the way we all want it to, then this message needs to be spoken out by all of us unanimously and fearlessly.

This film is about the culture of longboarding, and by going to court on this issue I can generate a source story from our point of view, and earn the media publicity that will help this message.

Brisane City Carpark Bomb!

March 16th, 2009

Well WELL! As you all know we Australians love to fuck the sytem, so we decided to round up ten thousand muscly blokes and dominate Brisbane city. We think every skating law is perfectly reasonable **SARCASM** We also think Queensland police officers are polite and humble people who don't get any enjoyment at all from bossing people around.

That aside, 11 story empty carparks with deliciously smooth ramps and tight sweaty turns are heaps and heaps of fun. So check out the latest skate Australia Trailer, the Brisbane City Carpark Bomb!

Back on the Road

January 25th, 2009

The Skate Australia longboarding documentary is back on schedule!

Anton and Gabe have been locked in a room working, fuelled only by Bacchus-D and ...herbs, since the Australian Federal Police recovered Anton's camera and footage after raiding a drug den. Nonetheless, the tapes, still reeking of mdma and cocaine, look amazing and the footage is simply awesome.

We've put together an ULTIMATE TRAILER, with selected prime cuts of action from the Skate Australia film, to whet your appetites and stimulate your skate glands. Get some tissues and prepare yourself for a jizztacular longboard experience.

Love, The Skate Australia Crew

ps. the tune 'Hold me close tiny Dancer' was considered for the trailer but ultimately rejected after the footage of Anton engaged in a indecent act with his eponymous Loaded board was mysteriously cut out.

pps. If anyone would like to donate iced coffee to our editing crew please email skateaustralia@gmail.com. Expenditure on Dare Double Espresso and Breaka Strong Coffee have currently blown out our budget by 200%.
